Base Color To Hide:

Base Color To Hide To use a paint pad, work the paint in all directions. Note that a pad applies only a very thin coat of latex so you will have to repeat this process to give two or even three coats - especially if you have a base color to hide. Whatever painting tool you use for the main area of walls, you will need a small paintbrush for the edges.

Leather. While this material is not a textile, it is extensively used in Decoration for upholstery, Table covers, and other purposes. There are many varieties, the best for upholstery uses being cow and steer hide. The hide is taken off the carcass by cutting the length of the belly so that the center of the hide is from the back of the animal. The best-wearing portion and the most interesting grain of the hide is taken from this part. The quality depreciates along the edges of the hide so that these portions are used for surfaces that receive the least amount of wear, such as the outside of backs and arms of chairs and sofas. A cowhide contains about 50 square feet of leather, but due to its irregular shape, one must count on about 25 per cent wastage in its use. Leather can be finished in almost any color and is furnished in several grades. Genuine leather hides are usually sliced into four layers, the outer layer being the most durable. These are graded in order from the outside and are known as Top Grain, Deep Buff, Split, and Slat. As leather is a product of nature, there are always irregularities in the surface of the top grain, but these do not affect the wearing quality and are a proof of the grade. Leather of course has a distinctive odor that makes it easy to identify.

Colors opposite each other, however, such as red and green or blue and orange, can be seen as contrasting colors, known as complementary colors. There are, of course, infinite nuances of color between each of these rather artificial subdivisions of the wheel. Colors can be pale or intense depending on the colors they are mixed with and, technically speaking, they become shades, tints and tones of the original base color. A shade, for instance, is created by adding black to the base color, while a tint is made by adding white, and a tone is the result of a color being either lightened or darkened by the addition of gray.
