Beautiful Black -and-white:
Panchromatic films enable you to get beautiful black -and-white black-and-white results with ordinary Camera equipment, and often without color filters. This does not mean that filters have no use in this work, but it does mean that in many cases a Filter is not needed. In others the use of a Filter adds just enough more color correction to give you tone brightnesses in the black-and-white print that are comparable to those registered by the eye. While these "pan" films are best for black-and-white flower pictures because of their sensitivity to all colors, good results can also be obtained with Kodak Verichrome Film and the proper filter, such as the Kodak Color Filter or the K2 Filter. For information on these, see the preceding chapter.Although the big money in calendars lies in color transparencies, calendar publishers offer a good market for black and white pictures, as well. Subject matter desired in black and white is the same as in color. Payment for a black and white shot is only about a tenth of the price for color, but that still is high enough to be profitable.
