There are more devotees of body- building than perhapsbuilding than perhaps you realize.Even before Mayer enunciated the first law, another law had been recognized and applied. By 1824, N. L. Sadi Carnot, a young French engineer, had noted that heat flows from a hot body to a cold body in contact with it until the two bodies reach the same temperature, but it never is observed to flow by itself from the cold to the hot body so as to increase continually the temperature of the hot body while the cold body grows colder. Because of Christ's redemption, there is a new humanity, a new People of God present in the world. Those who accept this gift of redemption form a visible body in the world. This body—the Body of Christ, the Mystical Body—is a visible community produced and upheld by the Holy Spirit. It is the church. For the Catholic, to share in the life of Christ, which is man's salvation, is to be in the church.
