Bottom Soil: Coarse sand is needed for the bottom soil of the terrarium. Gently pull small plants, which adjust better to indoor temperature than large specimens, from marsh sediment.
Pond turtle feeds under water, although pet often learns to come out and take food from owner's fingers. Drop food in water and on soil. Provide large container of water deep enough for pet to submerge and move about in freely. Push dish down into soil so that its rim is even with surface of soil. Cover bottom soil of dish with layer of sand. Arrange a few stones stair-step fashion from bottom soil to top of container so that pet can crawl out of water at will. |
