Cover Tightly:
Use 5- to lo-gallon aquarium with tightly fitting screen top, which must be escape-proof. As roaches breed in dark quarters, cover bottom with 2 inches of sawdust. Provide plenty of cover material; scatter many thin pieces of bark over sawdust; pile several over each other. Warmth is essential for normal development; place aquarium where temperature is most constant; put near Heater during night.Divide the meat into neat pieces, arrange in a casserole with the whole or sliced onions, whole or sliced carrots, stock and seasoning. Cover tightly and cook in a cool to very moderate oven for about l hours. Add the quartered tomatoes, peas and the herb dumplings (check to see there is plenty of stock in the casserole). Do not cover again, but cook for a further 30 minutes. If preferred, this may be cooked in a saucepan, but in this case, use li-li pints stock. This is excellent with new season's lamb.
One of the most important points to remember in the making of slipcovers is that they should have a strictly tailored appearance. They produce a very untidy effect, and their wearing quality is greatly lessened, if wrinkles are in evidence or they do not fit tightly. It is very difficult for an amateur to cut and make a professional-looking cover; proficiency comes only after considerable experience.
