Dark Green And Gold-leaved:

Dark Green And Gold-leaved Good ivy-leaved varieties are: "Abel Carriere" (soft purple); "Galilee" (pink); "Jeanne d'Arc" (white); "Mrs W. A. R. Clifton" (scarlet). Ornamental-leaved varieties are: "Chelsea Gem" (green and silver); "Crystal Palace Gem" (green and gold); "Mrs Henry Cox" (green, yellow and red).

Thuja plicata and T. octidentalis grow well in heavy soils and may be treated as for Lawson cypress. Yew (Taxus)is available in dark green and gold-leaved varieties which may be planted separately or in a mixture. It's slow-growing and so does not need frequent clipping, is very durable and will grow in most conditions including both chalky and limy soils.

CONIFERS, OF WHICH cypress, cedar, juniper, fir, larch and pine are familiar examples, differ from other trees in having narrow, sometimes needle-like leaves. Though naturally green leaved, some conifers produce varieties with leaves of a different color, ranging from silver, gray, blue, and green to bronze and gold.
