Green manuring means growing cover crops especially for the purpose of turning them under and converting them in the soil into humus. The humus is formed by the decay of the extensive root systems as well as the tops. To induce cover crops to make maximum growth, add fertilizer and soil before each crop and lime if a soil test indicates its need.
Begin your soil improvement program at any time.
