Fodder And Green: The refined oil, calle colza oil, is edible and is also employed as lubricant for delicate machinery.Rape, native to Eurasia, is cultivated in man countries and sometimes grows as an escape. Th principal rapeseed-producing countries are Indi; China, Pakistan, Japan, Poland, Canada, Ger many, France, and Sweden. Some rape is grow in the United States, where the plants are use principally for fodder and green manure.Black sorghum (Sorghum bicolor var. technicus) will top 6 feet over the summer. The sorghums have been used since prehistoric times, and man has approached the species with an inventive mind. The sweet sap of some varieties is used for molasses, a second variety is used for making flour, a third is grown for silage and cattle fodder, and a fourth for making brooms. The shiny black seeds immediately spruce up floral arrangements, and even the cornlike leaves with their light green color lightly spattered with brown can be very effective when added to a Vase of cut flowers. This is a very tender plant and should not be planted out until all danger of frost is past.
Through the exhibition and related programming, The Green House will explore developments in sustainability and will provide an informative overview of this dynamic design movement. This exhibition will take a look at some questions home-owners often ask when considering a green home or product, including: What makes a product green? How is a green home healthier, safer, and more comfortable? and How much does it cost to 'go green?' |
