Gloss Paint Hardens: This inexpensive splashback has been made by painting a thin MDF board with gloss paint. The gloss paint can be wiped down, and here the same colour as the units has been used to keep the room looking seamless.Lay down ipaper to protect the floor. To protect the wall, use a piece of cardboard or a length of thin wood and hold it to shield the while you brush. If the Wall has been dry for some time, then :an use masking tape - but remember to peel away the tape re the gloss paint hardens or the paint may tear. Work the h following the direction of the baseboards, making horizontal tes and working your way in one direction around the room. i you come to painting close to the floor, make sure that your h does not pick up dirt from below the baseboard by moving :ardboard or wood along the Floor as a shield as you paint.
Paint woodwork with an oil-based paint, preferably a gloss for the highest level of protection. Apply the paint following the grain, working in strips. Next, work the brush across the grain and then, with light strokes, follow the grain as you did on the first application to ensure even coverage and a smooth finish. Note, that you should always brush out toward an edge - for example, of a door frame - to prevent the paint from forming an unsightly ridge. When painting window frames or around glass panes in a door, mask off the panes where they meet the frame to prevent a clean-up job after the paint has dried. |
