Ground Water Into Streams:

Ground Water Into Streams When rain falls on the ground water into streams it is either absorbed in the soil or runs downhill over the surface in small temporary gullies called rills. These unite to form a stream. Other streams start from springs, where water that has sunk into the ground water into streams comes to the surface, or from melting glaciers. Streams and rivers usually begin in mountains or hills and the downwards pull of gravity gives them energy to cut away the land and form valleys.

When the river reaches the sea the sediment it is carrying is deposited. In some areas tidal currents are strong enough to remove it and the river ends in an estuary. Where more sediment is brought down than can be removed by the sea a delta is formed [10]. Heavy and prolonged rain may make level ground water into streams waterlogged. But once the rain has stopped, the ground water into streams will dry out as the water sinks into it. In hot weather standing water will evaporate and plants will absorb water through their roots, transpiring it from their leaves. Sloping ground water into streams drains quickly, for the water that cannot Sink into the ground water into streams flows downhill in rills, then in streams and finally in rivers. That part of the rain that has percolated into the ground water into streams will emerge later, at a lower level in the terrain, as a spring and flow away as a stream or river.

Folan pointed out that there were probably few connections to underground water into streams streams because the stagnant condition of the water indicated that currents hardly existed in the cenote. For this reason, he felt that drainage of the more than 8 million gal (30 million I) would be possible. The stagnant water caused by lack of currents, however, was not sufficient evidence in itself to rule out the connection of the well to large underground water into streams streams. It could actually be, as later operations proved, that the well was fed by many small inlets or by larger ones that had clogged up over the years.
