After the guest leaves the front desk, the representative inserts the guest folio or rack slip in the room rack or file. The guest folio is stapled or clipped to the back of the rack slip. At some properties, the guest folio is used as a rack slip. The folio or rack slip is inserted in the slot or file assigned to the guest.Each item of information, such as the guest name, address, telephone number, and so forth, is defined as a field. When the guest record is saved, the reservation data is stored in the computer. If, later, the client changes the check-in date, length of stay, room type, or some other aspect of the reservation, the guest record can be retrieved and modified. When a guest arrives at the hotel, the client record can be displayed at the front desk so that the reservation can be verified.
Pays and Bernsen's own artistry as renovators first garnered notice after they spent three years redoing an English country-style home in Beverly Hills, and then sold it to actor Steve Martin in 1995. The house included a wine cellar, screening room and music room as well as a guest house made of stone. Doors were imported from England, and wooden beams originated in a barn in Connecticut. "It was just a great house. We went all out," Pays recalls.
