Mixing Materials Of Different:

Mixing Materials Of Different In the dry process, all grinding and blending is done with dry materials, and the final mixing materials of different is accomplished chiefly in the grinding mills. In the wet process, the final grinding and blending h carried out in a water slurry, and the mixing materials of different is accomplished both in the grinding mills and by stirring in large vats. In both processes, rigid control of the composition of the final kiln feed is attained through chemical analysis of the raw materials at various stages and the subsequent blending of mixtures.

Refractory Materials.—A furnace lining must not melt or soften at the operating temperature, must be strong enough to suppor •';ight of superstructure and processed material, ist resist mechanical erosion and disintegration der changing temperature, and must satisfy ler requirements of the particular service, immon metals are inadequate for high-tempera-re applications, and refractory materials, mostly mufactured from natural earthy materials, are ?d for furnace linings. Manufacture of re-ictory materials usually consists of crushing : raw material and, if necessary, mixing materials of different with binder, molding into bricks or other shapes, d heating to a high temperature. Firebrick, made from relatively pure clay and lilable in many grades, is the commonest re-ictory. The varied furnace requirements can t, however, be met by firebrick alone, and many ler kinds of brick are extensively used. Heat-1 oxidation-resistant alloys or water-cooled cs may be used for mechanical and load-bear-; parts.

In mixing materials of different colors with white, gray, or black pigments one will usually find that the resultant colors turn slightly blue. There is an unseen bluish element in these neutral pigments. mixing materials of different any of these pigments with blue, the additional tinge is not visible; but mixing materials of different them with red or yellow, a purplish or greenish tinge will respectively be noticeable. This must be corrected in such mixtures by the addition of a slight amount of orange or yellow in the first case and orange or red in the second. The exact amount of the complement to be added must be estimated by observation and trial and error. There is no scientific method of exactly accomplishing this correction.
