Off The Floor And Vacuum:
Where the Floor is just dusty, vacuum off the dust, then treat the Floor with a coat of PVA glue, diluted one part glue to four parts clean water. This will seal the surface and prevent further dust from arising.
If the Floor has projecting nibs of concrete, remove these with a bolster and club hammer.In practice, a perfect vacuum is unobtainable, but it is common to refer to a region of space with a very low density of matter as a vacuum, or more correctly, as a partial vacuum. The degree of vacuum can be measured by the pressure exerted by the gas remaining in a partial vacuum. The best vacuums that have been obtained in the laboratory are of the order of 10~15 atmospheres of pressure.
Once sanding is complete, dust off the Floor and vacuum it thoroughly before applying any finish. Using a damp cloth will help to settle fine dust. If you plan to leave the floorboards exposed, you will need a good-quality finish. Apply the sealing coat as soon as possible, before the boards have a chance to become dirty, choosing a seal that is formulated to withstand heavy wear. Some sealing products are sold as Floor seals, others as varnishes.
