Check zincs and replace if necessary. Struts: Physically shake the prop-shaft struts to make sure they are secure and tight to the hull. Strut bearings: Shake the prop shaft in the strut bearings, seeking excess looseness. Slight clearance is OK; if you're in doubt, get an expert opinion. Prop replacement: Mount prop hub on taper snugly; don't let it ride up on the key and get off center. Shaft log: Be sure the shaft log is well bedded to the hull and secured to the boat's bottom. Tighten the fastenings; they may loosen as the bedding compresses. Stuffing box: If the box dribbles, tighten the gland nuts slightly. Don't over-tighten.
