Ordinary Color Slides:
If you don't care to invest in a stereo Camera but have a 35mm camera, you can sell ordinary color slides for the same purposes as suggested here for stereo pictures, although they will not be nearly as easy to sell. The color slides can also be sold in duplicate. Eastman Kodak Co. and some of the other color processing companies offer a slide duplicating service, for either the 35mm size or for stereo frames, which sometimes can be used to multiply your profits. The ordinary price for a slide duplication is about 30 cents, but if you order them in quantities you can get special prices at a much reduced rate. You can sell them for $1 each.Professor Lippmann has shown me slides of still-life subjects by projection, that were as perfect in color as in an ordinary glass-positive in the rendering of the image in monochrome. The rendering of white tones was astonishing, and a slide made by one of the Lumiere brothers, at a time when they were trying to make the process commercially possible, a slide of a girl in a plaid dress on a brilliant sunlit lawn, was simply dazzling, and one would have to go to a good Renoir to find its equal in color luminosity.
One obviously excellent use for Flexichrome is in the production of expensive color portraits. The Flexichrome process has the advantage that it permits the photographer to make a number of black and white exposures in the ordinary manner and at the ordinary film cost, then have the selected negative carefully retouched before the print is made, resulting in a much more flattering picture than a straight portrait shot on regular color transparency film. Ordinarily, color retouching by any of the other processes can be done only by an expert and at great cost.
