Rustic- Style Backyard:

Rustic- Style Backyard HERE ARE some favorite herbs that are grown more for their decorative appeal than for culinary reasons. Lavandula angustifolia, commonly known as lavender, is a well-known herb used mostly in the flower garden. It has spikes of purple flowers and small, gray-green leaves, and is highly fragrant. For a splash of color, the pot marigold, Calendula officinalis (annual), is a good rustic- style backyardstyle backyard plant with vivid orange-yellow flowers, each with a dark eye. Tansy, Tanacetum vulgare, is another favorite plant for rustic- style backyardstyle backyards. It has deeply cut leaves and small yellow flowers held on tall stems. There are many other colorful ornamental herbs to brighten up the flower garden, including the nasturtium, Tropaeolum majus (annual). This has bright heads of scarlet, red, orange and yellow trumpet-shaped flowers and leaves that are rounded in shape. Bergamot, Monarda didyma, has spectacularly colorful flowers of red, pink, white or purple and the whole plant has a delightful fragrance.

A GATE is an essential part of a wall, hedge or Fence if you want a continuous barrier with access through it. They are commonly made of wood or wrought iron. It is important to choose one that fits in with its surroundings: a very ornate wrought-iron gate would look out of place in a simple rustic backyard, just as a simple picket gate would be inappropriate in a patio garden. Constructing a gate from scratch is not easy and, if possible, buy a ready-made kit consisting of all the parts that can be glued or screwed together. In general, metal gates should be hung either from metal posts or brick piers, while wooden gates should be used in wooden fences, wherever possible matching the style of the fence. ALL GATES need hinges and some form of latch. There is a wide range available to match the style of the gate, many of which are designed to be decorative as well as functional. When buying fittings, select those that are durable and in scale with the gate.

These units were made and fitted by a carpenter, a great way to get exactly the style you want, and often cheaper than buying from a kitchen retailer. The tongue-and-groove doors have been painted a grassy green and fitted with a random collection of knobs for a simple, rustic look. Rather than fill the high walls with units, a thin shelf has been created for storage space. It frames the Wall and the pots that hang within it. This is rustic, informal look is brought bang up-to-date with a modern oven and cooker hood.
