Saucer Into Soil In One: Succulent top growth—Necessary; push unglazed flower pot saucer into soil in one corner of cage and fill with water; water seeps through porous saucer and keeps soil moist; plant wheat, corn, other grains in moistened area. Dry foods—Must always be available; offer such seeds and grains as wheat, corn, and sunflower seeds; place on soil away from moist area. Water not required except as explained above.
NOTE: Pet can learn to take food from owner's hand. It is fun to watch it stuff and empty its pouches on top of soil as long as food is offered.Place sections of moss over soil and over and around log, pressing them firmly into place. Make a pool by sinking the glass dish or glazed flower pot saucer into soil in low corner of terrarium. Cover bottom of dish with layer of coarse sand. Pile a few small, flat rocks against one side of dish in stair-step fashion. Stick spray of water plant in sand, and fill dish with water. Place moss and ferns on soil around dish in attractive manner.
