That The Walls Are Square:
The square is a unit used in carpentry for flooring, ceiling, and shingling, and contains 100 square feet, architects' and builders' measure.
In surveyors' measure 1 acre = 10 square chains = 160 square poles = 100,000 square Gunter's or surveyors' links. The acre (4,840 square yards or 43,560 square feet) was probably as much land as could be tilled in a day and therefore of rather indefinite extent until later times. It is a unit of the same order as the French journee and the German Morgen. The square mile equals 640 acres.You must leave a >^in (1 2mm) expansion gap all around th< between the panels and the baseboard to avoid lifting and bu in damp weather. Cut a strip of wood to keep this distance wl you work. Later the gap can be filled with a cork strip, althoui some people prefer to tack a piece of quarter-round shoe mol to the baseboard to hide the gap. Before starting, check that the walls are square by butting panel into each corner of the room. Any gaps between the pai and the walls indicates they are not.
When choosing climbers for planting against houses or high walls, the direction that they will face must be considered since climbers on shaded walls will get little direct sunshine; those on some sunny walls may get too much; and those on walls with sun for part of the day may be exposed to cold winds. The problem hardly arises with fences, since plants quickly rise above them. The soil close to house walls can be dry, and until climbers become established they may need regular watering.
