Upper Leaf Stalk:
Small roundish flowers are borne on long, hanging shoots. Flower shoots appear between the upper leaf stalk and trunk (the axil) in mature trees and then in the axils of progressively lower leaves until the tree dies. The flowers mature into yellow nutlike fruits, each about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter and containing 2 to 3 seeds.Cilia from all types of cells have very similar structures. The stalk, which extends from the body of the cell like a hair, is about 0.0002 mm in diameter and about 0.005 to 0.015 mm in length. The cytoplasm of the stalk is continuous with that of the cell, and the stalk is surrounded by an extension of the cell membrane.
Metal leaf. The use of silver and gold leaf surfaces in Decoration has become popular in recent years. These effects are also part of the painter's work. Aluminum leaf is generally used in place of silver, as it is less expensive and does not tarnish. The application of metal leaf is accomplished by first applying a gold size to the surface to be treated. This is allowed to dry to a thick consistency, and the leaf is then applied to the size and allowed to dry thoroughly. It is best to varnish metal leaf for protection. Metal leaf is usually glazed over the varnish for antique effects.
