Virtuosity Of Style Has Been:
Mannerism. In the second half of the 16th century, the High Renaissance style developed into mannerism everywhere but in Spain. This was characterized by great complexity of design, densely elaborate ornament, and great technical virtuosity. The most celebrated practitioners of this style among goldsmiths were probably the Jamnitzer family of Nuremberg.Queneau's works are written in colloquial language, and they contain slang and other rhetorical devices. His virtuosity of style has been compared to James Joyce's, and the humorous effects he achieves, as in the hilarious comedy Pierrot, man ami, have a Chaplinesque quality. He also did scenarios for many films and was elected to the Academic Goncourt, which each year awards the famous Prix Goncourt.
Trinity Church in Boston, begun in 1872 and finished in 1877, shows the perfection of Richardson's individual style. This style evolved from his study of the Romanesque churches of southern France. The church is cruciform in plan, but the distance from apse Wall to facade is only a little in excess of the distance between the two walls of the transepts. A departure from the Gothic revival style popular after the Civil War, this highly personal Romanesque style of Richardson's had a powerful effect upon subsequent designs.
