Weathered Wood Give:
Pale yellow is teamed with white and cream for a fresh but easy-to-live-with look. Plenty of natural materials and weathered wood give it warmth while a tall chest of drawers ensures clutter is kept under control.Lots of baskets are used for storage here. They're inexpensive and natural, adding texture and warm colour too. A row of succulent plants makes a beautiful Table centrepiece, and, unlike cut flowers, they'll live for years. In old terracotta pots, they're a weathered foil to the exotic, highly-polished wood of the tabletop.
Suitable for application on wood are alkyd, alkyd acrylic, alkyd polyurethane, polyurethane, polyester silicone, epoxy, latex liquid rubber, and vinyl paints. Success, however, will depend on how well the wood surface has been cleaned, sanded, and prepared. Primers and fillers should usually be of the non-oily type and preferably of the same brand as the final paint. A wood bottom may be treated with any of the antifouling paints or with a hard non-toxic racing surface if the Boat will not be left in the water between uses. Varnishes, whether tung oil and phenolic resin types or the newer synthetics and two-part epoxy systems, require careful application. Follow instructions as to surface sanding and bleach- ing if brightwork has weathered. Then, on a nearly windless day with the right temperature, apply the needed number of coats.
