Wooden Restaurant Chair Design:
Wonderground : the 2006 Design Research Society International Conference in Lisbon
The conference will be organized by IADE Instituto de Artes Visuais Design and Marketing through its Design School and UNIDCOM - Unidade de Investigação em Design e Comunicação.
The conference co-chairs are Ken Friedman, Terence Love, and Eduardo Corte-Real. Charles Burnette is the chair of the Scientific Committee and Chris Rust is the chair of the Research Exhibition.During the 20th century, functionalism (q.v.) and the hope of bringing good design to mass-produced furniture brought increased simplicity to chair design. New materials, notably plastic, made possible new forms. Many of the outstanding chair designs of the 20th century were made by architects, including Alvar Aalto, Marcel Breuer, and Eero Saarinen to harmonize with the architecture of the "international style."
A mix of classic, cutting-edge and revamped furniture gives this room lashings of personality.
